As an Albertan, there are three people who can help make PDs a mandatory part of exams. One of them is you! All you have to do is contact the Alberta Health Minister, and your local MLA.

You can write, phone, or email. Just take a few minutes to let them know that you think Albertan’s deserve more choices than we’re getting.

What should Albertan’s ask for?

Just about what BC mandates, minus the exception in section 5.

In a prescription for a corrective eyeglass lens, a registrant [...] must set out the named individual's interpupillary distance, as measured at the time of the eye health examination.

It’s that easy. BC has a baffling exception for practices who don’t sell glasses, which is like allowing your podiatrist to not give you your shoe size so long as they don’t sell shoes. In both cases, they have the expertise, the equipment is comparatively free – make it a requirement.
